First time I ever heard Bad Religion was in primary school. At that time I was mostly into MTV pop punk bands like The Offspring, Green Day and Blink-182. A school friend of mine who was bit older introduced me to less mainstream side of punk rock. He was like a walking library of obscure punk and hardcore bands for me! Every other week I would get from him some new music on CDs that I would copy on cassettes to keep! One day he gave me Tested, a live album by Bad Religion. I remember how i didn't like that record at all. Only two songs caught my attention. One was Punk Rock Song and the other was American Jesus! Both of them have very catchy melodies and that American Jesus solo just stuck in my head forever! Later I've got from my friend No Control on cassette, that became my favorite album by Bad Religion and my soundtrack to BMX with tracks like No control, Sanity and of course You!
Thanks to catchy guitar solo and song tempo I chose American Jesus as a candidate for perfect dancefloor banger! Iconic guitar solo is reinforced with Dutch hardcore lead synths, four on the floor kick driven by heavy bassline, some amen breaks here and there and mine crunchy, slightly out of tune overdriven vocals!
